What's new :)

So I've been in Vegas the past few days just chillin and playin a lot of poker and switch blackjack over at Casino Royale. I was out for the Dream Team Poker Tournament and decided not to take the 12 hour road trip back with Tru on Sunday (sorry man).
The Luxor has a nice little cardroom - not a ton of action, but they offer a high hand of the hour bonus. Basically if you have the best high hand at the end of the hour they give you a hundred bucks - 24/7. I thought this is a pretty cool way to induce action and attract new players as well.
Katie, Justin and I watched some Planet Earth last night - that show is so amazing, I highly recommend watching it if you haven't.
Anyway, I'm not sure if I'll head back to Colorado as of yet - it depends on if our softball game is cancelled or not, lol. Go Rippers!

Home for a few days...

Amber and I arrived back in Colorado last night, but in less than a week I'll be headed off again - this time to San Jose, CA for the Shooting Star. I really can't wait. I feel like I've been playing some really good poker and want to keep the "mo" as Nappy would put it. I've started to become obsessed with poker again, which is really nice because I know a big score is right around the corner.
As for news around these parts.... I just received my new bowling ball, compliments of Lenny which I'll get drilled today so that I can test it out at league tonight! Wednesday is our second game of the season for softball -unfortunately I missed the first one :( Also, I'm thinking about hiking Bear Peak sometime this week if anyone wants to join me.
I'm not sure when I leave for San Jose yet, but I'll get to see my cousins while I'm out there, so that will be nice - see you soon Brad & Miss :)
In other news I've been crushing my MMA bets thus far and I'm really excited about the next UFC card. Anderson Silva is always fun to watch, and he might have his hands full with Thales Leites, not to mention some of the preliminary fights featuring some up and comers whom I've followed from the WEC. Steve Cantwell looked absolutely amazing in his last fight against Brian Stann (who is a total badass himself, and who is also making a UFC appearance in this card). Cheick Kongo vs. Antoni Hardonk has "Knockout of the Night" written all over it. Also, a few entertaining vets will fight. Jason MacDonald vs. Nate Quarry and David Loiseau vs. Ed Herman will be good fights.
Alright, well - time to get out of bed and go for a run!

What a beautiful day

The past few days I've been a little depressed. I've thought about why, and it's hard to pinpoint an exact reason, but I think it may be due to a number of things.

I haven't worked out in a while, and I think that has a lot to do with it. Also, I never really realized how much I depend on my friends, but social interaction is definitely something I depend on. I think that part of the reason might also have to do with the fact that whenever I come back from a trip it's hard to get readjusted to normalcy, for lack of a better word.

I've tried doing what I like to do - poker, bowling, computer games, movies, etc. - but they haven't provided the same pleasure over the past few days that they normally do. It wasn't until about an hour ago that I felt much better.

I decided to go lay on my porch and enjoy the day, and I think that my depression has stemmed from being inside all the time. I have no scientific reason for the way I feel, but whenever I'm outside I'm immediately in a better mood. When I think back to some of the low points in my life, there is always one constant - not seeing the light of day for hours, days, sometimes even weeks.

Sometimes it can be hard to get the motivation to go for a hike or a walk (often times because the wind is so absurd where I live), but I have to remind myself how much better I'll feel.
