ARG:CIV

I just saw the best soccer game I've ever seen. Argentina vs. Ivory Coast. The ball control and speed throughout the game was incredible. The only downside was the D- oscar performance put on by the Argentinian players when they were "fouled". It was pretty lame to see some of the intense action be brought to a hault when a player decided to dive and draw a foul. One time the Ivory Coast player did not even touch the other player at all, the other player pretended like it was a very serious injury, and the dumbass ref gave the Ivory Coast player a yellow card. Usually I'm inclined to think that ref's don't have favorites when they are doing their job, but it sure did look like he was a hired hand. Anyway, the point of this post was to predict that, despite losing to the stalling/cheapshot/drama queens, I think that the Ivory Coast has a real shot at winning the World Cup, after seeing all five games thus far. Given, I have yet to see a few dominant teams perform, namely Brazil and Mexico, but I'm sticking with my prediction. I felt that tonight the Ivory Coast man-handled Argentina, and had a few bad breaks, a couple unlucky situations, and some unfair calls by the refs.

1. What? Players sometimes take dives in soccer? That happens? That's so unfair!

Please. Get used to it. The diving in this game was nothing compared to some of the bullshit that happens.

2. Ivory Coast has "a real shot at winning the World Cup"???? Are you out of your mind?? Does the word "defense" mean anything to you??? Ivory Coast has little chance of getting out of the Group. I'll give you 3:1 against right now, 8:1 against making the semifinals, and 30:1 against winning it all.

3. Mexico a "dominant team"? If Mexico is a "dominant team" then what is the U.S., one of the best teams ever?
